Santorini Settlements and Villages

Megalohori is located 9km from Fira. It is one the offers the most graphic images of the island. It was established in the 17thC and is a lively traditional community during both the summer and the winter periods. It remains true to its houses' traditional architecture with beautiful mansions and numerous bright white churches.

Less than 60 years ago, the village was owned by one of its wealthiest families, who were also the first to produce vincando wine and export it to the whole world. Today, Megalohori has 150 permanent residents who add to the village’s natural appeal and beauty with their traditions.

Three of the biggest wine factories of Santorini are here as are also a few of the most traditional taverns with exceptional food. The distance to the nearest beach (Perivolos, St. George) is only 5 minutes away.
