Ios Island

Ios is the most representative of the Cycladic islands’ unique style. Ios, or Nios, as its residents call it, lies on two imaginary lines of the Cycladic islands, if we can call them that! One starts from Paros and Naxos, passes through Ios and ends in Santorini; The other one starts from Folegandros, Sikinos and Ios and ends up in Amorgos. Ios is not a huge island.

However, it has a special natural beauty, such as its original Cycladic architecture and beautiful, golden sand beaches. During the 70s and the 80s it was often referred to as the Aegean Sea's very own Ibiza.

Therefore, Ios slowly but steadily has gained its well deserved place in the global tourist map, just like the Spanish island, which has become an international cosmopolitan centre. Ios' diverse summer night life, which can accommodate every taste is full of surprises; you could find yourself enjoying an ice cold summer cocktail under the sound of classical music or with contemporary sounds of the latest world music scene.

Ios is not only popular amongst people of all age groups but the Greek Prime Minister’s favourite place to holiday as well. Along the axis of the closest islands to Santorini, Ios is definitely one that is worth visiting.
